Asking a question politely
“Turn the music down. It’s too loud.”
Ok, not sure the person who will hear this comment will collaborate. It sounds very confrontational and aggressive.
“Would you mind turning the music down ?”
Very different tone, don’t you think ? Much more pleasant, polite, in fact.
Use “would you mind + ing” from now on and increase your chances of seeing your requests granted.
